The Committee

There is a team of volunteers quietly working behind the scenes to support the Preschool

The Preschool is a registered charity and is managed by a Committee which is made up of volunteers (mostly parents of children attending the preschool, but it doesn’t have to be – anyone can join!). Without the Committee the Preschool would have to close, so it is vital to its continued success.

So what does it mean to be a Committee member?  We get to make all the important decisions. Yes, there are some meetings throughout the year, ordinarily in the local pub, but currently on Zoom because of Covid-19. We would be busy organising the next fundraising event, but as we have to adhere to social distancing, these are pretty much on hold. However, there are other matters that have to be discussed and agreed, for example, the recent recruitment of our new Manager and Deputy. We really do get to make a difference but we always try to have some fun while we do it.

What do I have to do? There’s no pressure to attend every meeting or event. But bags of enthusiasm, a head full of useful ideas, a sprinkle of your time (as much as you can spare), and if you have any special talent, then even better, is all we ask of you.

Who are the Committee?  The Committee has a Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and the other members – we need a minimum of five members, but the more the merrier. You will also meet our lovely accountant, Ann, who holds the purse strings and keeps the Preschool ticking along financially (it’s a tricky job!).

Why should I join the Committee?

  1. You can influence what happens.
  2. Opportunity to meet other parents and in turn make new friends.
  3. Set an example to others about volunteering and helping out.
  4. Learn new skills that you could add to your CV.
  5. Gain experience through participation.
  6. Sense of achievement when organising and participating in a fundraising event.
  7. Good fun!

Fancy joining us? The Committee remains a small group of parents. As with the Preschool, we are keen to make it bigger and better. So if you fancy joining us (or know someone who might), please drop us an email at windmillcommittee@gmail.com – we would be delighted to welcome you on-board.

Meet the team of volunteers who help support the Preschool.

As a charity run business, we need to raise funds to pay for all those extras.
